Tribal Haat (Phase II)
Tribal Haat aims to create a space for folk artists who have a passion for continuing the threatened music of their community. It aims to showcase diverse musical performers, traditions, and instruments, from the Gandharvas known as the bearers of Nepali folk music to the Chyabrung drum of the Limbus, and the Kauda dance of the Magars. The social event will be a joyous hub for the original and authentic sounds of Nepal. The Tribal haat is a unique event in Nepal that will surely revive the lost cultures of the country.
Features
Gurung
Gurung People are an ethnic group indigenous to the hills and mountains of Gandaki province of Neal.
Kauda, Chutka and Ghatu:
The Gurung community performed their traditional Kauda, Chutka and Ghatu in the 1st Event of the Tribal Haat(Phase 2).
Rai
The Rai people are an ethnolinguistic group belonging to the Kirat family and primarily Tibeto Burman linguistic community.
Ayosa and Sakela:
The Rai community performed their traditional Ayosa ad Sakela in the Event 2 of Tribal Haat (Phase 2).
Sunuwar
The Sunuwar or Koinch is a Tibeto Burman ethnic group native to Nepal and Souther Bhutan.
The Sunuwar community performed their traditional dances and music on event 3 of Tribal Haat(Phase 2).
Tamang
The Tamang Community is a Tibrto Burmese ethnic group of Nepal, Southern Bhutan, and India. The Tamang Daajang team represented the Tamang community at event 4 of the Tribal Haat (Phase 2).
Sherpa
The Sherpa people are a Tibetan ethnic group native to the most mountainous regions of Nepal, Tingri County in the Tibet Autonomous Region, and the Himalayas.
The Himalayan Sherpa culture represented the Sherpa community on the event 5 of the Tribal Haat(Phase 2).
Far-West
Deuda
Deuda is a Nepali folk music genre. It is the most popular dance as well as song form of the mid and far western region of Nepal especially Sudhur Paschim and many regions of Madhya Paschim. It is conducted on the occasion of various festivals. This song is sung and danced by both men and women. This genre has been trending on Youtube and other platforms by the tag “New Nepal Dueda Song” or “New Duda Geet”.
Dikra Devi Badi
Dikra Devi Bade is a well reknowned musician from the far-west. She is Popular for her unique and evergreen voice. Dikra is induldged in the popular genre “Deuda”.
She has hits such as “Khuwa ka bhagita”, “Bouju”(which she performed with the popular singer Jhuma Limbu) , and “Buwaki Ladli Cheli”.
Dikra Devi Badi along with the Deuda Team performed at the Event 6 of Tribal Haat(Phase 2).
Uranw
The Uranw community originated 2500 years ago to the Inus Valley. They Primarily reside in Ilam, Jhapa, Dhanusa, Bara, Parsa, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Saptari and the Kathmandu Valley.
The Uranw community performed their traditional dances and music at event 7 of the Tribal Haat(Phase 2).
